Petition
We the undersigned believe that Bristol would benefit from a congestion charge in and around the centre from 7:30am - 9:00am and 4:45pm - 6:30pm.
The traffic at rush hour is at breaking point with roads leading to Bristol being constantly bottle necked.
The charge will allow for reliable public transport as the roads will not be congested.
A higher proportion of people would cycle due to a lower traffic footprint on the major roads.
Bristols carbon footprint would also be improved.
Background information
This idea has come forward in the past with no resolution.
See 2009 'This is Bristol' link, above right.
London congestion charge has lowered the city carbon footprint with better public transport.
