Petition
Bristol City Council are seeking to gain asylum sanctuary status for Bristol.
When asylum-seekers are dispersed to Bristol accommodation some subsistence is provided by NASS (National Asylum-seeker Support Service). If the person is able to stay they may then seek social housing and allocation is on the basis of need. Statutory services that have to be provided by the council will continue to be provided through existing budgets.
This not a good ideal, we don't have the capacity to do this and our services, such as education and housing provision are stretched and will not be able to cope.
The council will vote on this in March.
