We, the undersigned, petition Bristol City Council to support the proposed Ashton Vale stadium. We wish to see a world class sports facility which would attract major sporting events (e.g. FIFA World Cup) to the city.

Background information

Bristol is home to two league football clubs, a top flight rugby team and a first class cricket side. However, in terms of sporting venues the city lags significantly behind other cities of similar size. It is considered that the proposed Ashton Vale Stadium would provide a sporting venue which Bristol and the south-west of the England could be proud of. Furthermore, a new stadium would provide Bristol with the opportunity to be a host city for the 2018 FIFA World Cup (if the FA’s bid is successful) which would showcase Bristol to the world, bringing significant socio-economic benefits to the city.
