Petition
The petitioner request that Bristol City Council scraps its plan to partially close the Prince Street swing-bridge to motorists. Previous occasions when vehicular access at this location has been limited have proved disastrous for the city and led to traffic chaos, confusion and chronic congestion. This is a vital crossing point into central Bristol which must be kept open to all.
Background information
The Principal Petitioner Councillor Richard Eddy has asked that this matter be referred to Members of the Sustainable Development & Transport Scrutiny Commission for their urgent consideration. As a result, this has now been added as an item to the agenda of an extra-ordinary scrutiny meeting convened for Monday, 24th November 2008, commencing at 6.00 pm, in a Committee Room of the Council House.
