Petition

The Petitioner....request that the City Council, Brunel College and Westbury Homes retain the Brunel field as a playing field in their future Section 106 negotiations over the College site.

Background information

The Brunel playing field was to be used for a new Primary School for the Bishopston area and to retain part of it as a playing field for local use. The proposal to expand the existing Sefton Park school site means that the existing 106 agreement with the College and Westbury Homes now needs to be re negotiated. The site will return to the ownership of the College if the Sefton expansion is approved and the 106 agreement will be considered again for as will the future use of the site including the existing playing field.

The community of Bishopston needs the field to remain a playing field which can be used by either a new local school and for other residents for sports activities. Currently a Sefton Park School football club use the field on a Saturday morning with 4 year groups and over 60 kids taking part.

There are no other facilities close by that could be used as an alternative and the area badly needs this playing field to remain as an open space.
