Petition
The Petitioner demands the antique street lights, taken without due process, are returned to the community of St Andrews immeadiately.
Background information
The council have removed the antique street lamps from St Andrews with no consulation and replaced them with some ugly modern ones. The antique ones are now earmarked for upmarket conservation areas. They claim the old lamps are not bright enough and the new lamps are to improve security and tackle car crime. However no supporting information has been provided and apparently they are going to work more efficiently in the conservation areas!
The council have behaved poorly without following the correct proceedure and have failed to respect community feelings and sense of identity.
