Petition
Bristol City Council are proposing to carry out a traffic management experiment which will close the entrance from the M32 via St Pauls Street, into Portland Square. This experiment is being done to test whether the closing of this turning helps to relieve traffic, and if it does, Bristol City Council will be looking to permanently close it.
Background information
Bristol City Council are proposing to carry out a traffic management experiment which will close the entrance from the M32 via St Pauls Street, into Portland Square. This experiment is being done to test whether the closing of this turning helps to relieve traffic, and if it does, Bristol City Council will be looking to permanently close it.
This route serves as an important access to the St Paul's area, which is vital to the business community. We feel that the consequences of blocking it would be to stifle the access to already struggling businesses and possibly force them into liquidation.
We are therefore petitioning the City Council to stop this right turn being closed and to ask them to consider other alternatives that will not have a detrimental effect on our community.
