We are requesting that Bristol City Council re commission the services of Splitz Support Services who are the only Perpetrator Change Programme available in Bristol.

Background information

Recommendations from Time For Change - An assessment of Services for Domestic Abuse Perpetrators in Bristol included: "A voluntary perpetrator programme should be set up in Bristol. Nationally, most major cities have services of this nature and Bristol is an exception." This was written in 2007.

Now Bristol City Council and Safer Bristol have decided not to re commission the service which provides a programme to help men stop hurting their partners.

The programme was set up in Bristol in 2010 and has given men practical skills to stop being abusive and helps them develop a relationship based on respect and equality.

Many children living in a family where domestic abuse is a factor are at risk both emotionally and physically and to stop funding the only perpetrator program in Bristol will put far more children at risk in the future.
