Petition
We, the undersigned, petition Bristol City Council to welcome, support and approve plans for Wavegarden UK to develop a surfing facility at the Bristol and West sports ground along the Portway near Sea Mills, Bristol.
Background information
The facility, which will be a world first for a city, will include a surfing lake, botanical garden, changing rooms, treatment rooms, a cafe, adventure trail, hire facility and sensory garden.
We believe this development will have a positive impact on Bristol and the lives and lifestyles of the surrounding community.
It will add to and complement the existing sports facilities currently available in Bristol and be available to people from all ages, backgrounds and abilities. It will also encourage and promote people to maintain or increase their levels of activity to be fit and healthy in an enjoyable outdoor setting that will be available all year round. For many it will be an opportunity to take up a new sport that is currently unavailable in Bristol and many parts of the UK.
We believe any negatives, whether perceived or real, are far outweighed by the commercial, environmental and social benefits gained from such a project.
The Lead Petitioner is in no way associated with Wavegarden UK. This petition has been setup in light of recent opposition to demonstrate to Bristol City Council the level of support this project has within the community.
