Signature information

We believe the Wellington Hill Playing Field is a valuable open space for the local community and the groups that use it.

We believe the Wellington Hill Playing Field should not be sold off, nor should it be allocated for development as it is important to the community and all of the groups that use the field.

We believe that the 62nd Bristol Scout Group is an asset to the local community and that improvements to the Scout Hut would enhance the facilities available at Wellington Hill Playing Field to support the local community.

Background information

The Wellington Hill Field is identified as a possible site for disposal within the AGSP (see link above right) and is suggested for housing development in the Site Allocations Options Document (ref BSA0406 - see link above right).

However the field is used extensively by: local Scout Groups (62nd and 91st Bristol), local Girl Guiding (Rainbow and Brownie groups), Local Churches (Youth and Playgroups), Manor Farm Boys Club, as well as many families and other informal groups. See link above right for photos of the field in use.

The 62nd Scouts have regularly used the field since moving to Rozel Road and in their 96 years of offering Scouting to the area.

Without the field, Scouting from the Hut in Rozel Road would be very restricted, as the field is uniquely suited and located to enable the fun, challenging and adventurous activities offered by Scouting.

Please sign this petition to say you want to see the field kept and it to be removed from the list of sites identified as possible for disposal.
The field is valuable recreational space that is a focal point for the community.

More information can also be found on the Friends of Horfield Common website, (see link above right) , whose wider campaign is fully supported by the 62nd Bristol Scouts.
